PREP
24-48 Hours Before Your Appointment
Shower and exfoliate thoroughly: Use exfoliating gloves or a mitt to remove dead skin, paying extra attention to dry areas like elbows, knees, and ankles. Ideally, shower 24 hours before your appointment. If you need to shower the same day, aim for at least 4 hours prior and use cool or lukewarm water. Avoid Dove body wash and harsh bar soaps. Sulfate-free products are recommended.
Shave or wax: Complete any hair removal at least 24-48 hours before your appointment.
Day of Your Appointment
Arrive with clean, product-free skin: Skip lotions, oils, deodorant, perfume, and makeup. These products can create a barrier and prevent your tan from developing evenly.
Wear dark, loose clothing: Think oversized, comfortable, and nothing tight! Long, loose pants, a long-sleeve T-shirt or sweatshirt, and flip-flops or slides are best. Avoid bras and tight-fitting clothing after your tan.
AFTERCARE
Remain dry until your initial rinse (10–12 hours for Signature, 2–8 hours for Express): Avoid all moisture, including showering, swimming, and sweating until your first rinse. Staying completely dry allows your tan to develop evenly.
First rinse: Quick, lukewarm water only. No soap, scrubbing, or shaving.
Pat dry: Gently pat your skin dry with your towel, never rub.
Moisturize daily: Apply a gentle lotion that doesn’t contain mineral oil 1–2 times a day to keep your skin hydrated and help extend the life of your tan.
Go easy on exfoliants: Sulfates, retinols, AHAs, and physical exfoliants like loofahs and washcloths can cause your tan to fade faster. If these are part of your regular routine, just keep in mind that they may shorten the life of your spray tan.
TIPS
Plan ahead: For weddings, we recommend booking your spray tan 2-3 days before the big day. For all other events, aim for 1–2 days prior to ensure your color is fully developed.
Beauty services: Complete all other beauty services (nails, waxing, facials, massages, etc) before your spray tan.
Sunburns, sun exposure, and chemical peels: These can all impact how your spray tan develops and fades. If your skin is peeling, whether from a sunburn, retinol, chemical peel, or recent sun exposure, your tan may develop unevenly and fade prematurely. For the best results, wait until your skin has fully healed and is no longer peeling before booking your appointment.
